Life In Japan pt. 2 (Cont….Return to Kumamoto City

Welcome Once Again Music Fans,
After completing my schooling at GIT-BIT-PIT, & DIT Institute which is now the world renowned (MI) Musicians Institute. The school is located in the middle of Hollywood, which is perfect grounds for musicians who can really hustle. For many has fallen victim to the drama of big city life. Working a day job, and gigging at night to keep life going was the protocol in survival efforts. I mentioned in my previous Japan blog of the contacts I made while on tour with “Between The Two”. I received this call roughly 2:00 am in the morning from the club’s owner Mizuka Hayhashi. He ask if I’d like to bring my band over to work in several of his clubs, record, and possibly work other cities. My group included Billy (bass), Steve (keyboards), yours truly (guitar/vocals), and Fred on (drums). This is a photo taken with 3 of the clubs staff.

After arriving and a day of rest we teamed up with Joe and Fumiko, two singers from Tokyo.We jumped right into action preparing for our first performance only two days later. After a week in the main club, “The Scotch Bank” a very upscale pricey joint visited by many of Kumamoto’s business executives, Media, & TV celebrities, the group STORM was super tight.

During the intermission there was Yolanda “The Dancing Lady”, very talented & pretty too! The club became so packed to capacity 5 nights a week, Hayhashi asked us to remain on top billing for 2 months! Wow that was cool, plus it indicated we were a hit. We did a very sucessful live radio show with the RKK Radio Station there in Kumamoto City.

On occasion band members got in on the photo opts! Very colorful 80’s all the way! We had a tight show, packed with great entertaining.
After a month or so there were a couple more female dancers that arrived from Los Angeles. They were to work with us in the brand new club “Heaven.” We witness remarkable planning, design, and Japanese building expertise in gutting out a old club, and doing a complete makeover in 30 days flat! It was a 24 hour around the clock effort, with a grand opening that was flawlessly perfect….Simply Amazing!

Things got pretty wild as we did the grand opening of club “Heaven”, completed 3 weeks of performances, then prepared to head home to the U.S.
